Focused on the Purpose

Mentors have always told me the best place to start is the beginning, say your message, tell the audience what was said, then end the whole thing all over. Some of you in cyber land may be interested in the purpose of this website and the purpose of re-opening a counseling practice. The purpose begins, honestly, with me.

I miss the work of helping others make sense out of this world and one's place in it. Hearing emotions and creating understanding is a gift I have experienced throughout life. The first recollection of this gift is the first grade. Recess was spent listening to the trials of other kids while sitting on a swing set. Little Patty used to talk about the hurt her mom caused even at the age of six. That memory made a permanent impact, never forgotten. That purpose has lingered and added endless meaning to life. Satisfaction is watching a fellow human reach an expression of peace and contentment from the experience of an issue settled.

Purpose adds meaning to existence. We all need a reason to rise in the morning and address the events of the day. Helping others in the search for meaning and purpose brings meaning and purpose to me. Even writing this simple blog generates excitement about this phase of life's adventure. The small office room in Old Town Square with its living room feel and soft tones of restful light will be a haven for clients and me. This will, hopefully, be a safe haven for expressing frustration and strife along with some curiosity of possibilities.

I am anxious to fill days with the anticipated personal experiences of listening to the needs and wants of fellow sojouners. Purpose and meaning will be served in bountiful ways if this venture begins to fill with inquisitive souls in search of meaning and purpose in an atmosphere of peace and contentment.
